Another tag!

It's kind of fun to do the impossible. -Walt Disney

So Kirsten has once again tagged me in a post and I fear she may have tagged me in more but here it goes, the 5 people you would want at a dinner party and why, also bonus round what would you serve!!

Firstly my idol Audrey Hepburn. Not only was she a beautiful woman, she was also a trained ballet dancer, an amazing actress and a UNICEF goodwill ambassador who unlike her contemporaries was taken by cancer not drugs at the age of 63.

Secondly, one of the reasons I am a film production student, Tim Burton, from a young age I watched his films see how magical and mystical they are and how not everything is as it seems. This man literally gave me my love of film and taught me never to give up on something your passionate about.

Thirdly, Ellen DeGeneres because who doesn't love Ellen. But seriously not only is she hilarious but she has a loving heart, is tolerant of everyone and is the voice of one of my most beloved Pixar characters, Dory, I don't think the character would have been the same with out her input.

Fourthly, moving in to fictional territory because seriously its me and I live half my life in books, Arthur "Boo" Radley from Harper Lee's To Kill a Mockingbird, ever since year 11 when I was made to read it for my GCSE this has been my favourite book and even though half the characters in the book are misunderstood and are relatable I think that Boo Radley is my favourite of them all, at the beginning the children all live in fear of the terrible Radley house namely Boo, in a childish decision they decided to try and coax him out but in the process end up making a friend who by the end save one of them from being killed, its yet another thing that taught me not to judge a book by its cover. Also Me and best friend Jack often sit and quote the book to each other.

Lastly, no photo for this one as I don't own one, my Great Nan Mary Cobbett. I chose her so I can meet the woman that my Mum is so proud to call her Nan and who raised a woman that I am proud to call my Nan.

For dinner I think I would serve roast beef because I really like roast beef (hehe) and for desert apple pie, I've been craving my Nan's for a while now (no I'm not hinting!)

It's your turn Ma, I haven't seen you post anything for a while!

Thank you & Goodnight

You wait months for a post, then two come along on the same day.

Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. -Winston Churchill

"I'm in a tree!"
So March has been pretty nice so far, weather wise, so nice in fact that we have has some trips to the park yay for sun! We played football, basket ball and just lounged around it was so nice to be
outside without a jumper on and to have fun and mess around with my friends (uni friends!!)

I also got to realise one of my life long dreams this last weekend. I went to Cardiff with Ellie, Georgia, Ashley, Daniel, Stephen, Jaz and Austin to see one of my most favourite bands of all time Fall Out Boy the concert was amazing, Ellie and Georgia were crowd surfing, me and Stephen were quite literally fighting for our space and Austin got a shout out from Pete Wentz because he was wearing a daffodil hat and could been seen for MILES!! It was an amazing night although I was hurting all over! I also got to meet Kirsten's family (mum, nan and brother) and what Eric and Megan affectionately call Dog (a french bulldog whose actual name it Tilley) I have missed having a dog as Kirsten found out when I was playing with "Dog".

I did receive some bad news this week whilst editing our experimental piece for uni, unfortunately i have failed a compulsory module this year and need to speak to my tutor about it, i have a meeting with her on Thursday and I'm dreading it, this was literally one of my worst nightmares and could have easily cried about it for days on end, however i have and amazing mama and just as amazing friends as they cheered me right up and even managed to calm me down. Hopefully everything will go ok tomorrow the worst that could happen is being made to take that module again next year which i don't mind, my problem with that is it costs £1030 to retake it *GULP* oh well just wish me luck and I'll update you next time!

Thank you & good night

Lets have a catch up

A friend is one who knows you and loves you just the same. -Elbert Hubbard

So in my last proper blog post I may have possibly made a promise that apparently I can't keep, I said I wouldn't leave it a month to update yet here we are three months from Christmas and you've only had a tag post, I AM SORRY, I will never get away from saying that phrase! Any way on with the catching up I feel this may have to be a long one!!

Me, Nan and Grandad at Christmas dinner
So I spent most of the Christmas period with Kirsten in halls we didn't really do much apart from mope around all day and watch copious amounts of TV she had a Christmas temp job to go to so actually got out of the flat every now and then I however did nothing, I was waiting for proper Christmas to go and spend some time with my Mama, Nan, Grandad and Step-dad on the boat for Christmas day. I really enjoyed being with my Nan on Christmas for a change and she really enjoyed the present I made for her!

For New Years I was down in St Ives with Ryan we went to the Eden project, had a look around the biomes and ice skated, which Ryan was surprisingly good at, I however had deteriorated since my last days on the ice and  my hips had a huge impact on this (never damaged your hips if you do then almost everything is ruined), we also went to penzance and had a small shop, I got to go to a beach and the waves were HUGE I was so happy to be near the sea again, for new years eve we went out to St Ives itself dressed as mimes, apparently dressing up to celebrate new year is a tradition in St Ives, we had a good time in a small club and watched the fireworks go off from inside as it was pouring it down, typical south west weather!! We then just laid around like slobs for the rest of the time there.

The first week of January brought our brand new bunch of Americans! Yay! We got two girls, Megan and Brie and guy, Ben. These Americans are a lot more sociable than our last lot and we adore them!  Not much else really happened in January apart from starting our second semester of uni, Ryan and I decided that we wanted to start making proper food not just processed and frozen stuff or especially pizza our biggest vice. I think we've done alright and we haven't starved yet! We did have Jazmin's and Austin's birthdays so we had a movie night and went out for their respective days, and we FINALLY got our flat photo! YAY!
Kirsten, Me and Emily
Me,Kirsten and Ryan
Eric, Ben, Ryan, Me, Kirsten, Brie and Megan. Our Flat

Finally February, the greatest month of the year, arrived! it was Georgia's, Eric's and my birthdays within about two weeks of each other, we had a movie night and food for Eric, with an amazing cake made by oneself :) and I got a surprise meal with both flats in Nandos, I was not expecting it and was soo happy i couldn't contain myself, nothing to do with the two vodka lemonades i was made to down (RYAN!! get your timing better), on my actual birthday my mama and step-dad came down and took me out to lunch at weatherspoons, it was very tasty, i then went back to the flat and watched the rugby, interesting when you have one welsh person in a flat full of English people! I got so many cards and presents for my birthday and i loved them all! Thank you everyone!

I also went to visit Ma the day after valentines as she was stuck in the same mariner she had been in at Christmas, waiting for the water levels to recede, let just say that i could have gone swimming on what was once a road!! it was a nightmare! but i did get to have an explore of tewksbury, i saw the abbey they have which is BEAUTIFUL and all the pretty flowers i do love seeing colour in the world! Ma and i even took some selfies!

Well now that we are all caught up to March i shall talk about this months antics in another post, which will be up by the end of this week! Promise!

Thank You & Goodbye!

SORRY!!

"I love deadlines. I like the whooshing sound they make as they fly by." Douglas Adams

So a couple of my readers (Yes you Kirsten and Ryan) Have been complaining because I haven't updated this in a while, I promise I've been meaning to but I've been so busy with uni assignments and job interview that unfortunately my blog just slipped out of my mind, once again SORRY!!!

So I guess I should tell you about this job I've been interviewed for, its a Christmas temp job, unfortunately, but at least its some money and experience, I'll be working in next over the Christmas period, which for any one that doesn't know is a big clothing shop with a very big reputation! Anyway it started on a Tuesday when a woman (Beth) from next rang me up and asked if i was available for a phone interview, great i thought your first impression of me is my horrible phone persona, but thankfully anxiety decided not to turn up for a change and i did really well, so well intact that i got invited to an assessment! This involved working for about 15mins on some of the departments that we would be working on if we got the job, thankfully having worked with the public before this was quite easy for me, so apparently that made me come across as confident and approachable as i had several customers approached me asking for help/ where something was, i even had a chat with a little boy who didn't want to go shopping (he started it). Guess what happened next? I GOT THE JOB!!! Hehe i got invited along to an induction which consisted of 3 hours of health and safety, manual handling and a walk through of the shop and it's fire exits (thrilling stuff) i also had to do an on line till training exercise (which i got paid for)  however hiving worked with this type of till before it felt like i was being taught how to suck eggs… Anyway my first shift is the 23rd of December where I'll be thrown in the deep end and told to swim! I can't wait.

On to my assignments…

So for our cinematography our lecturer Mark decided to do something new and different, basically we were put in an order and had to make a 30 second film and whoever was in front of your had to edit your film and whoever was after you had to do the sound design for your film etc and at the end the tech guy would put them in sequence and we would have a 40 min film made up of every ones 30second clips! How Freaking cool is that?! However in typical teenager style we paid no attention to this and edited and did sound for our own films (which Mark was fine with) i had spent a little while on my film putting it the correct order and trying my hardest to do something interesting with what i had filmed however when i went to upload my 30 second clip on the due date i sat in horror as my mac decided to inform me it could locate any of the files i had used in my film which meant that i couldn't submit my 30 second clip!!  But after watching everyone else's clips in a 40 min film I'm so proud of my year, by the looks of it we're all quite found of surrealism but there are some great minds in my class and they rant just what you'd expects of student films they aren't just expressionist lifeless pieces there were some genuinely funny clip and I'm so excited to start working properly with everyone!

For our script class we had to present our first draft of our scripts and trust me ours was bad Paul essentially told us to rewrite EVERYTHING as it was all to cliche and on the nose, we had also used stereotypes which he wanted us to move away from YAY:\ , but once again listening to the run through of everyone else's scripts was awesome and some amazing ideas are really starting to take shape which leads me on to pre-production.

For pre-production we have to created whats known as a mood reel/ mood board based around our film's we are developing in script. So we gather together pictures of how we want our films to look and feel like and we can either edit them together to make it in to a small advert type thing or just have it paper based so that we have to explain our choices. For some reason I'm really struggling with this which is quite strange because I'm usually the one drawing comparisons hopefully i get a grasp on this because it needs to be finished and in by this Friday!!

In other news i have been on a months drinks ban which ended a couple of days ago just in time for the inter flat Christmas Party!! Which was great fun we also had Secret Santa and i think we all did pretty well getting the right present for our person. Thank you Jazmin for my Chocolate, Mug and hot chocolate!!

as a flat we gave each other presents earlier that week because as Kirsten says "Ryan and I are children that can't contain ourselves once we see presents under the tree" SORRY MUM! but thank you to Kirsten and Eric for my amazing presents Kirsten got me the Breakfast at Tiffany's mug and the eyeliner and Eric got me the chocolate and the grumpy old git mug, as one of my friends on instagram said they know me too well already!!

Ryan and I also went to Christmas market in town over the weekend we had a mooch around and got what we thought were the best rolls EVER (its because we haven't had proper meat for a while) He had a Roast pork and stuffing roll with apple sauce and i had roast ham and stuffing, I'll tell you what i don't think i ever enjoyed something so much it was well worth paying for and i definitely would have gone in for a second round if Ryan hadn't stopped me! We also decided to make ginger bread men (when i say we i mean Ryan wanted them and i was forced to make them!) and i must say they turned out pretty good so much so that only three where left by the next day! This also lead to Ryan telling me that if i can cook this well he might just keep me! Cheeky sod!! We also decorated them, I'll let your decided who did what!!

I also received the cutest Christmas card ever from my best friend Thank you Becky! I promise yours is in the post!! I can't way to see you! Love you!!

Well that's everything i think i promise i won't wait for a month to update again!!

Thank you & good bye

Promised update

"Hann can you update your blog again, I want a personal mention not just a picture!" -Kirsten

As promised here's another quick update about what happened last week.

Kirsten, Ryan & Me
Stephen, Eric & Ryan
It was Ryan's birthday this week so we obviously had to celebrate! Kirsten went out and got a tonne of balloons, made him a birthday sign and got him the ever popular caterpillar cake! He didn't know that any of this was being done for him and it was obviously left to me to keep him busy whilst the kitchen was set up!

Me & Ryan
We ended up going to the club that Kirsten and I work for, because you know free entry and all. We ended up asking for the rankest shot they did which was something like 63% it was meant to have been on fire but the bartender couldn't light it! we also had something called a "Zombie" which cost a lot and it was HORRIBLE!! It was a cocktail glass of shots, it looked pretty but its looks were deceiving! But as you can see from the photos (which aren't stolen from cocoloco... *cough cough*) we had a great time!
Jess, Catherine, Georgia, Ellie & Kirsten

This week was also my Nan's birthday which I'm sad I couldn't be there for but Happy Birthday Nan, I wish I could have been there to complete the circle of family you had around you, but from the sounds of things you had a good time! I also want to wish my Nan and Grandad Happy Anniversary!

Work wise all has been good had to do an on going practical assessment which as the name suggests is still on going we filmed last week in the media production office!! Scary Freya (my course leader) is scary! and we're editing this week so by  next week all should be done and dusted and i should have handed in my third assessment of the semester! I also handed in my Pre-production assessment this week, god I'm a glad that's done and out of the way! That was one huge document that nearly gave me a mental breakdown when I was doing it, thank god I only want to be a 1st AD (first assistant director), and will only have to deal with that stuff ALL the time, good choice Hann, good choice...

Anyway that's it for this week!
Thank you & goodbye

Hann x

Halloween!!

“Some people never go crazy. What truly horrible lives they must lead.”

― Charles Bukowski

I got to see my best friend last week for Halloween! She came up for a couple of days and got to meet my flat mates whilst they were dressed in the in some of the weirdest costumes I've ever seen. I honestly think we made her want to come to uni YAY!!
top L-R: Becky (zombie?), Ryan (Old Gregg), Me (Skeleton)
Mid L-R: Jazmin (1940's ball?), Kirsten (Vampire)
Bottom: Georgia (Spiderman)

It was so good to see her and catch up but also so we could have a decent night out together, seen as we hadn't seen each other in over 2 months, I wasn't the happiest bunny when she had to leave, but as you can see from the photos we had a great time and everyone looked amazing!

L-R: Eric (Dead Where's Wally), Liam (Vampire?), Ryan,
Stephen (Cowboy), Georgia, Austin (1940's ball?)
It was not fun getting up for my lecture the next day! Eric and I were basically zombies for the entire lecture and the walk both there and back. Here's a tip never do Halloween if you have a 9:15 lecture the next morning you will be sorry and you will have no-one else to blame but yourself and trust me I think that's what hurts the most, the fact that its self inflicted!

So Friday after my lecture I took Becky for a small tour around Cheltenham high street where we got food and chatted then went back to my halls crashed and watched films, best afternoon ever! We also got a Nandos takeaway so that was highly appreciated, I got my free whole chicken which is a god send for a poor student that made me THREE meals!! If that isn't a pro tip i don't know what is!

Unfortunately I had to walk her to the train station the next day and was once again without her! I definitely had a great time with her as you can see from the photos, however I miss her not being like 5 mins away.

"I got a MANGINAAAAAA!!"
Creeping...

Thank you & goodbye
